Sacha Baron Cohen’s Dictator thinks Stephen Harper has done a great job silencing the media

Talking to George Stroumboulopoulos in character as The Dictator, Sacha Baron Cohen said Stephen Harper has done a great job silencing the media in the country.

“For the last 10 years, I have not even heard a single noteworthy event happening in Canada,” said Admiral General Aladeen, the supreme leader of the fictitious country of Wadiya.

It’s unclear whether Cohen is joking about Canada’s reputation for being boring and polite, or if he’s referencing the prime minister’s penchant for tight message control.

The Dictator was released yesterday and the full interview airs on George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight May 15.
