Foreign Minister John Baird will speak at an event sponsored by an anti-gay church

Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird will speak about religious freedom at a Washington D.C. event sponsored by an anti-gay church.

The Seventh-Day Adventist Church and three other groups host the annual Religious Liberty Dinner and Baird will be the main speaker this year. The church is very firmly against homosexuality.

It’s essentially an open secret in Ottawa that John Baird is gay. He’s also Laureen Harper’s bff and her regular date to events ol’ Stephen can’t attend.

As a senior Canadian minister (who may or may not be gay but is almost certainly gay) his presence at the Religious Liberty Dinner is a little troubling. Remember, Adventists are not just run-of-the-mill skeptics on same-sex marriage or people who are “evolving” on the issue. The church maintains that since “the Bible makes no accommodation for homosexual activity or relationships” there is no room for “homosexual practices and relationships.”

No blowies, no handies, and definitely no marriage.

As important as religious freedom is, it probably doesn’t trump the personal freedom to fuck whoever you want.
