Do you know about the Bilderberg Group, which holds annual off-the-record meetings between top politicians, business leaders and other persons of influence? They gather once a year to discuss issues of global importance and bask in their own magnificence. At the end of their super-duper secret meetings, they all drink the blood of a newborn baby and swear allegiance to the devil. At least, that’s what every crazy person on the internet seems to think.
The Bilderberg meetings started in 1954 and got their name from the Bilderberg hotel in the Netherlands where the inaugural meeting was held. It’s a frequent target of conspiracy theorists who think shadowy groups of bankers, politicians and lizard-people are trying to set up a world government with which to poison our bodies. Fluoride! Protocols of Zion! Ron Paul 2012!
It’s hard to say what, if anything, the Bilderbergs accomplish with all their cloak-and-dagger shit, and it wasn’t until this year that they actually published the list of attendees. I might suggest that it’s like the Davos conference but with fewer journalists (and maybe more cocaine?). It seems like for every “frank and open discussion” afforded to them by the excessive secrecy, there are thousands more basement-dwellers convinced that all these people do is get together and plot the downfall of humanity between rounds of vigorous masked sex. In any case, here are the Canadians who were in Chantilly, Va. this weekend.
- Mark Carney - Governor of the Bank of Canada
- Nigel Wright - Chief of staff to Stephen Harper
- Edmund Clark - President & CEO of TD Bank
- Frank McKenna - Deputy Chair of TD Bank, former ambassador to the U.S. and premier of New Brunswick
- Alison Redford - premier of Alberta
- Robert Prichard - Chair of the Toronto law firm Torys LLP, former CEO of Torstar (parent company of the Toronto Star)
- Heather Reisman - CEO of Indigo Books
Other notable attendees included U.S. senator John Kerry and the Dutch Queen.
Hottest. Orgy. Ever.
