Eduard Khil, the Russian singer made famous two years ago when a clip of him singing “trololololololololololololololo” over and over again went viral, has died. Khil was 77.
“Let’s all just be glad we were born in a glorious time that this man was. Let his remains soul faithful,” commented one 4chan user, after finally being convinced that the RIP thread was not a troll.
The song, made famous by bored kids looking for new ways to annoy their friends and confuse their parents, was originally aired on Soviet television in 1966.
Khil attributed the song’s success to its “rich orchestral arrangement.”
According to an interview with a Russian television program, he unsurprisingly found out about the video’s success from his grandson. Khil heard him singing the song, and asked him where he had heard it. “Grandpa, you’re home drinking tea here,” replied the kid, probably rolling his eyes, “[and] in the meantime, everyone’s singing your song on the Internet.”
It appears as though Khil really got a kick out of the whole thing, though.
