Rev. Frederick Haynes of Dallas’s Friendship-West Baptist Church called out his own congregation for opposing U.S. President Barack Obama’s support for gay marriage, even as parishioner stood up and shouted at him.
Haynes said that Obama swore to uphold the constitution when he entered office, not the Bible.
“He’s not the pastor of the United States; he is the president of the United States,” Haynes said.
Although a plurality of white Americans now support gay marriage, support among black Americans is much lower at 39 per cent.
