As director of the Hayden Planetarium at the American Museum of Natural History, Neil deGrasse Tyson often appears on TV as “the guy who explains science to the rest of us.” In addition to being a famed astrophysicist and science educator, Tyson has also become an internet celebrity of sorts.
The moonwalk above was captured at a taping of Tyson’s podcast and radio show Star Talk Live. His guests were The Daily Show‘s John Oliver, space journalist Andrew Chaikin, and the one and only Buzz Aldrin. Having an astronaut who walked on the moon as a guest prompted Tyson to do his own moonwalk, which is now recorded for posterity.
