Patriotism-crazed woman hits toddler, father with car before attempting to eat cop

Canadians of all shapes and sizes celebrated our nation’s 146th anniversary yesterday. In typical local fashion, many Winnipeggers chose to do so with extreme inebriation and bizarre outbursts of reckless violence.

While Osborne Village was cordoned off and filled with a massive police presence to control the extremely inebriated and poorly tattooed riff-raff, troopers at the Forks — “Canada’s Historic Meeting Grounds” — had an unruly crowd of their own to deal with.

One proud patriot made headlines Tuesday morning by first (allegedly) running into a child with her car, then (allegedly) hitting the angry father of child with the car, causing a scene that involved both fists and curses flying. If that wasn’t enough, the young lady then (allegedly) refused to pull over when instructed to do so by a policer, then (allegedly!) attacked the officer with her teeth.

“Woman bites cop on Canada Day,” read the headline in Tuesday’s Metro News.

The events that unfolded thereafter are worth quoting in their entirety here, folks. For posterity’s sake:

Police said officers asked the woman to turn off the ignition for safety, which she again refused to do, and when an officer reached in to turn the ignition off, the woman bit the officer, causing an injury. The woman was then taken out of the car and arrested.

Police said another woman in the car tried to stop the officers and was also arrested.

A 20 year-old woman is charged with assaulting a peace officer and, under the Highway Traffic Act, failing to stop and remain stopped when signaled by a peace officer and failing to remain at the scene of an accident and exchange particulars.

A 17-year-old girl is charged with obstructing and resisting a peace officer.

What a way to make do your country proud, eh? Go, Jets, Go!
