Canadian coach replaces Russian athlete’s broken ski, lets him finish the race

Justin Wadsworth ski rescue

Justin Wadsworth is a coach with the Canadian cross-country team in Sochi, but he still sprung into action to help Russia’s Anton Gafarov who was making a humiliating crash-crawl toward the finish line. Grabbing one of Canada’s spare skis, Wadsworth rushed onto the course and affixed it onto Gafarov’s boot, letting him complete the event in last place but with a modicum of dignity left intact.

Something something sportsmanship, something something Olympics spirit.
