Badass idiot teens in Gatineau love car-surfing

Looking for the hot new summer trends? Look no further! The teens of Gatineau are busy popularizing the latest craze: car-surfing.

Car-surfing, to the uninitiated, is exactly what it sounds like. Someone stands astride a vehicle while someone else drives said automobile. It’s potentially fatal, which makes it cool and fun for nihilistic teens with no sense of their own mortality. Car-surfing is also illegal (sort of), so when the latest car-surfing teens drove past their own high school, they were committing a grave error.

The teens were caught on their school’s camera surveillance system and identified, leading to tickets of $119 each and 12 demerit points for the driver. Police both seized the car and suspended the driver’s license for seven days.

Because they were under 18, none of the three — driver, passenger and surfer — received the larger fine of $1,264.

If you’re a teen — even if you’re a cool, badass teen who disregards advice like long-term smokers disregard all known medical evidence — you shouldn’t car-surf. Heck, even grown-ass adults shouldn’t do this. Teens in Gatineau should go down in the history books as monumentally dumb.

But, in a way, isn’t that the beauty of teenagehood? It’s a wonderful, stupid time of life when ideas with little payoff and major consequences somehow make perfect sense. While everyone should stop car-surfing immediately, it sort of encapsulates everything about being a teenager.

We salute you, you beautiful dumb idiots. Now stop doing everything you’re doing.
