In the conservative northern part of Pakistan, near the Afghan border, counterfeit Viagra and other erectile dysfunction treatments are being marketed with images of U.S. President Barack Obama, reports AFP.
Pills, gels and other kinds of substances meant to increase male libido can be found very easily in the markets of Peshawar, located in the semi-autonomous tribal region of Northern Pakistan. Says one storekeeper: “They help anyone who is unable to have sex. They improve the duration for people who have destroyed their youth through masturbation, so people use them to prolong their staying power to 30 minutes to one hour.”
You’d think Obama would be the last thing people in Pakistan would want to see on their dick pills, but maybe a decade of drone strikes has helped reinforce the image of the American president as a source of virility.
Dermatologist Samiullah Khan, who treats many men who suffer side effects after taking the fake Viagra, chalks it up to a general malaise from high unemployment, terrorism and air strikes.
“They are so depressed,” he told AFP, “and because of that maybe they are feeling some weakness in their marital life.”
